Decorating a Mantel

I have a brick fireplace with a bare mantel. I'd like some summer decorating ideas to lighten up my living room. Much appreciated!

I think some beach ideas are great for the summer...shells in a glass bowl or hurricane, starfish. Plus family picture in a white washed frame. Or candles and vases...lots of good ideas in home magazines. good luck.
